David de Young was born in Illinois and received a BA in English from Grinnell College in Iowa. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from NYU’s low-residency program in Paris and has published a book of poetry, A Flash of Insight and Other Poems.
He wrote about live music in Minnesota for HowWasTheShow.com before moving to Finland in 2012, where he now lives with his wife and three children.
His second book of poetry, The Unbeatable Slow Machine will be published in 2026.
